Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
During the pandemic, more than 23 million American households — nearly 1 in 5 nationwide — adopted a pet, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Many did not realize the maintenance needed to care for a pet. It was this inspiration that led me down this path when I decided to open a pet supply store.
According to Forbes, in 2022, Americans spent $136.8 billion on their pets, up nearly 11% from 2021 ($123.6 billion). Essential dog expenses cost an average of $1,533 annually. Khaboodles provides some of those essential items online and in our retail space.
Khaboodles is more like a small boutique that carries a variety of different items that are homemade by local and domestic vendors. We cater to a specific clientele.
In 2023 we added grooming to our services. We provide a one-on-one grooming service. This allows for pets with special needs or circumstances to receive a private session. We are located in a very busy shopping plaza in Monroeville, Pennsylvania (about 15 minutes outside of downtown Pittsburgh).
I served in the United States Marine Corps from 1985 - 1992. After participating in Desert Storm, I returned to civilian life. For the next several years I lived in Beltsville, Maryland and Greenville, North Carolina. I moved back home to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1995.
After receiving my bachelor's in business administration, I worked in the healthcare industry for the next 20 years as a Trainer and Instructional Designer. During this same time, I opened several businesses including a janitorial business and a hair salon.
Khaboodles Pet Supplies & Grooming started in 2022.
